Diving with Bull Sharks: About the activity
From November to March, many bull sharks gather in a specific location just 10 minutes by boat from the shores of Playa del Carmen. During this period, it’s not uncommon to dive with a dozen sharks at the same time, making this activity unique and rare.
How will the activity unfold?
It is not uncommon to find numerous specimens together, which makes this activity a true spectacle suitable for divers from level 1 or Open Water. Don’t miss seeing this unique spectacle in the world.
After picking you up at your hotel or meeting at the marina in Playa del Carmen, we’ll sail for about 10 minutes to reach the diving site “Mamita.” Then, and after a short but important briefing about the dive and it’s security, we’ll begin the descent.
- The dive will be at a depth of 20 meters/60 feet..
- A static dive of approximately 30 minutes.
- A guide in charge of your safety will accompany you and instruct you on where to position yourself in the water
- A shark specialist diver will attract them towards him. It is a unique experience to have several sharks around you.
- If we are lucky, you will have the opportunity to see the sharks up close.
- Remind that sharks live in their natural environment. Therefore it is difficult to predict how many specimen will be there. That being said JG.Scubadiving will not be responsable in case the sharks doesn't appear of the amount of them is not as many as you expected.
To know
The bull shark diving is regulated by local authorities, so the schedules are communicated at the beginning of the season and vary for each diving center. This prevents a large influx of divers at the same time on the site and increases safety to ensure your experience is unforgettable.
