IANTD Advanced Nitrox Instructor: Minimum 3 days

The “IANTD Advanced Nitrox Instructor” training is an advanced program designed for qualified dive instructors who wish to teach advanced diving techniques using nitrox blends and conduct decompression dives with gases enriched beyond regular air. Nitrox is an enriched air mixture that allows divers to extend their dive time and reduce the risks of decompression. It also enhances and shortens the decompression process during ascent.

Here is a summary of the typical content of the “IANTD Advanced Nitrox Instructor” training:

Prerequisites: Before enrolling in the “Advanced Nitrox Instructor” program, you must already be a qualified dive instructor certified by IANTD. You should also be certified as an Advanced Nitrox Diver or equivalent, and have demonstrable experience in technical diving.

Specialized Pedagogical Training: The “Advanced Nitrox Instructor” course includes specialized pedagogical training to teach you how to deliver advanced diving techniques using nitrox blends to divers who are already certified in nitrox. You will learn teaching principles, techniques specific to advanced nitrox diving, and how to create a positive and suitable learning environment for new divers.

Advanced Theory: You will deepen your knowledge of advanced nitrox blends, dive planning using these blends, gas management in advanced nitrox diving, decompression tables or dive computers for nitrox-based decompression dives, as well as specific procedures for advanced nitrox diving.

Confined Water Practice: Part of the course may include confined water exercises to reinforce specific skills related to advanced nitrox diving, such as managing cylinders and gas blends, advanced propulsion techniques, and emergency procedures specific to advanced nitrox.

Advanced Nitrox Dives: You will conduct several advanced nitrox dives using specialized gas blends under my supervision. These dives will allow you to put into practice the skills learned during the theoretical training and become familiar with teaching advanced nitrox diving.

Student Evaluation: You will be trained to assess students’ skills in advanced nitrox diving and provide constructive feedback to help them improve as advanced nitrox divers.

IANTD Teaching Standards: You will learn IANTD’s safety standards and ethical guidelines for teaching advanced nitrox diving, as well as the legal responsibilities of an instructor. After successfully completing the “Advanced Nitrox Instructor” training, you will be qualified to teach the IANTD Advanced Nitrox Diver program, which will allow you to introduce already certified nitrox divers to advanced techniques of using nitrox blends. As an instructor, you will play an essential role in promoting safety and efficiency in advanced nitrox diving, while helping divers develop their skills and confidence in using nitrox blends for more advanced dives.
