IANTD Technical Wreck Diver Training – Minimum 5 Days

The “IANTD Technical Wreck Diver” training is a specialized course offered by the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers for experienced technical divers who wish to safely explore and dive deep wrecks and explore their interiors responsibly. Technical wreck diving requires specific skills to navigate complex wrecks and manage the risks associated with this type of environment.

Below is an explanation of the course content for “IANTD Technical Wreck”:

Prerequisites: Before enrolling in the “Technical Wreck” course, you must be certified as at least an “Advanced Nitrox Diver” and have the “Wreck Diver” certification from IANTD or an equivalent, along with significant experience in technical diving. It is also recommended to have completed a specific number of technical dives involving decompression and gas switching.

Advanced Theory: The “Technical Wreck” course includes an in-depth theoretical training on the specific aspects of technical wreck diving. This will encompass a detailed study of safety rules for wreck diving, dive planning, techniques for navigating complex wrecks, advanced team communication protocols, emergency and confined-space rescue procedures, as well as specific considerations related to wreck diving.

Confined Environment Practice: Part of the course will involve exercises in confined environments such as cenotes, where conditions are sheltered and shallow enough to work comfortably without reaching the no-decompression limit (NDL). Specific wreck diving exercises will be conducted, including the installation of guidelines, handling decompression cylinders, propulsion techniques in tight spaces, and emergency procedures tailored to wreck diving.

Technical Wreck Dives: Subsequently, you will perform several technical wreck dives under my supervision. These dives will allow you to put into practice the skills learned during the theoretical training and become familiar with technical wreck diving in real-world environments.

Risk Management: An essential part of the course will focus on learning how to manage the risks associated with technical wreck diving. You will learn how to assess specific risks related to a wreck, handle emergency situations, and make prudent decisions to ensure dive safety.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the “IANTD Technical Wreck” course, you will receive certification that allows you to safely dive technical wrecks in environments specified by your certification.
