IANTD Technical Diver
IANTD Technical Diver: Minimum Duration of 4 Days
The “IANTD Technical Diver” course is offered by IANTD for divers who have achieved either an “Advanced Nitrox Diver” or “Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver” certification from IANTD or hold similar certifications recognized by IANTD. This training is designed for divers who want to become technical divers using two decompression cylinders during their dives.
During the course, divers are trained in the use of technical gas mixtures up to a depth of 51 meters and in the management of advanced aspects of technical diving. Here is a summary of the “IANTD Technical Diver” course:
Prerequisites: Before enrolling in the “Technical Diver” course, you must be certified as an “Advanced Nitrox Diver” or “Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver” by IANTD or hold similarly recognized certifications. You should also have significant experience in technical diving and have completed a certain number of dive hours.
Advanced Theory: The “Technical Diver” course includes comprehensive theoretical training on advanced aspects of technical diving, including the properties of gas mixtures, gas management, dive profiles, decompression procedures, narcosis, decompression tables, and other important technical subjects. You will also learn how to create a decompression dive plan, understand and control your dive computer, use gradient factors, and work with dive tables and software such as Multideco.
Gas Management: An essential part of the course involves learning gas management in technical diving. You will learn how to use technical gas mixtures correctly to safely extend your dive time and how to switch gases and perform decompressions using different mixtures.
Blend Analysis: You will be trained to analyze and verify technical gas mixtures used in your dives, ensuring that the percentages are correct and calculating your maximum depth for each gas.
Confined Water Diving: During the course, we will begin by reviewing techniques learned in previous levels. We will focus on improving your buoyancy, effectively and correctly using technical diving equipment (double cylinders, wing, or sidemount), and practicing basic exercises such as valve drills, air sharing with a long hose, various finning techniques (frog kick, modified frog kick, flutter kick, modified flutter kick, helicopter turn, backward finning), and more.
Open Water Diving: The course will include multiple open water dives to put your technical diving skills into practice. We will gradually descend to a depth of 51 meters under real conditions, and you will learn to manage different decompression gas mixtures at various depths.
Technical Diving Safety: The course will emphasize safety in technical diving, including specific emergency procedures and safety considerations related to the use of technical gas mixtures.
Certification: Upon successfully completing the IANTD “Technical Diver” course, you will receive certification that allows you to safely dive with technical gas mixtures up to a depth of 51 meters, as specified by your IANTD Technical Diver certification.
