The “IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver and Normoxic Trimix Diver Plus” course is an advanced technical diving program that allows divers to explore depths ranging from 60 to 70 meters, depending on the chosen program. This is done while using a Trimix gas mixture as the bottom gas and two decompression cylinders containing nitrox or oxygen.

Trimix is a gas blend composed of oxygen, nitrogen, and helium, designed to reduce the effects of narcosis and oxygen toxicity at greater depths than what is possible when diving with air or nitrox.

Here is a summary of the IANTD “Normoxic Trimix” course:

Prerequisites: Before enrolling in the “Normoxic Trimix” course, you must be certified as an “Advanced Nitrox Diver,” “Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver (ART),” or “Technical Diver” by IANTD (or equivalent) and have significant experience in technical diving with gas mixtures.

Advanced Theory: The “Normoxic Trimix” course includes in-depth theoretical training on specific aspects of normoxic trimix diving, including the properties of trimix blends, dive planning using this mixture, dive profiles, decompression procedures, narcosis, decompression tables, and other important technical subjects such as gradient factors, different dive computers, and more.

Gas Management: An essential part of the training involves learning advanced gas management in normoxic trimix diving. You will learn how to use trimix blends correctly to avoid narcosis, how to switch between gases, and perform decompressions using different gas mixtures.

Blend Analysis: You will be trained to analyze and verify trimix blends used in your dives, ensuring that the oxygen, nitrogen, and helium percentages are correct.

Open Water Diving: The training will include several open water dives to put your normoxic trimix diving skills into practice. During the course, you will continue to work on buoyancy control with two decompression cylinders, practice S-drills, valve drills, air sharing with a long hose, various finning techniques (frog kick, modified frog kick, flutter kick, modified flutter kick, helicopter turn, backward finning), perform deep ascents in blue water, manage the loss of a decompression cylinder, and more.

Certification: Upon successful completion of your training and if all exercises are passed, you will receive an IANTD certification allowing you to dive to depths of 60 to 70 meters, depending on the chosen course version: Normoxic Trimix or Normoxic Trimix Plus.
