Recreational Trimix Diver Course
Recreational Trimix Diver Course: 3 hours (theory only) and half a day with an option for 2 dives
The “Recreational Trimix Diver” course is offered by IANTD for experienced divers who wish to explore depths of up to 40 meters using a trimix gas blend.
Trimix is a gas mixture containing oxygen, nitrogen, and helium, designed to reduce the effects of nitrogen narcosis at greater depths than with air or nitrox.
This certification allows divers to safely access deeper and more advanced dive sites. Similar to the “IANTD Nitrox Diver” course, this training is primarily theoretical with an optional dive component.
Here’s a description of the “Rec Trimix Diver” course:
Prerequisites: Before enrolling in the “Rec Trimix Diver” course, you must be certified as a “Nitrox Diver” and “40m Diver” or possess equivalents recognized by IANTD.
Advanced Theory: The “IANTD Rec Trimix Diver” course includes comprehensive theoretical training on gas mixture theory, the physics of diving, narcosis, decompression procedures, and dive planning using trimix. You will learn how to use trimix to manage narcosis at greater depths and extend your dive time safely.
Mix Analysis: You will be trained to analyze and verify trimix blends used in your dives, ensuring that oxygen, nitrogen, and helium percentages are correct.
Gas Management: The course will focus on gas management during trimix diving, including planning gas mixes for different phases of the dive and managing mix consumption throughout the dive.
Open Water Dives (optional): Like the Nitrox training, the dive option is optional since the training can be purely theoretical. If you choose to do so, you will conduct two open water dives where you will put your trimix diving and gas management skills into practice. You will dive under my supervision to guide you through the process.
Certification: After successfully completing the “IANTD Recreational Trimix Diver” course, you will receive a certification allowing you to safely dive using trimix to a depth of 40 meters.
